An Oxy Alum is being featured at American Cinematheque!

“Splinters in a documentary made by DWA Alumnus Adam Pesce. Our department first supported Adam to go abroad for research when he was a Junior, he participated in the UN semester, and his senior comprehensive (on eco-tourism) was supervised by me. His documentary has received critical acclaim from a number of quarters -- try to catch this screening. If not, we will try to get him over to Oxy sometime soon. We have always encouraged our students to make documentaries - our subject matter and perspective lends itself well to this kind of documentation, it is wonderful that Adam was so motivated to pursue this kind of research.”

The Andrew J. Kuehn, Jr. Foundation present

Thanks to the support of the Andrew J. Kuehn, Jr. Foundation, we are proud to inaugurate a series of Legacy Project screenings commemorating the introduction of "New Queer Cinema" into the queer film vernacular 20 years ago. Critic and scholar B. Ruby Rich (professor, UC Santa Cruz) coined the term in 1992 to denote a group of films that depicted queer lives and realities in transgressive terms and beautiful forms. A hotly-debated critical distinction ever since, "New Queer Cinema" indicates both specific works and an impulse that still informs certain queer artists in film, and it is often invoked as a standard against which contemporary LGBT media is compared. Our salute to an idea, and to its representative films and artists, will continue through the first half of 2012, with guest filmmakers and speakers on site to engage in conversation and debate.

Theater information

Screenings take place at The Billy Wilder Theater (courtyard at the Hammer Museum), 10899 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024

"2 for 1" admission is available to Outfest members

When you purchase your ticket at the Billy Wilder Theater box office, simply say "Outfest" and you'll receive a second ticket for FREE. The Billy Wilder Theater box office opens one hour before showtime and theater doors open one half hour before showtime. Underground parking is available on site for $3.

The Legacy Project Screening Series: The Legacy Project is a collaborative effort bringing together the UCLA Film & Television Archive and Outfest to collect and restore queer film and video. We screen prints from this valuable and unique collection on a bimonthly basis.
