Film & Media Studies Students Create Oxy 101 Video Series for Incoming Students

Oxy Film & Media Studies students wrote, produced, directed, and edited an all-Oxy cast in this series of seven Webisodes intended to orient new students to life at Oxy.


Riley Hooper '10 recently made a documentary Seed to Plate: A Garden Story about a rooftop garden in Portland, OR that is now a finalist in a competition on Vimeo. The winner is determined by online voting, with the winner going to Amsterdam to have their film screened at a festival there. So let's get voting:

What do they have in common? They all have work in the permanent collection at The Paley Center for Media. Now it's your turn to become a part of history and have your work screened and archived side-by-side with these great talents. 

This Is a Call for Entries to Docu-Jam

The 10th Annual Docu-Jam is a unique youth documentary showcase presented by the Paley Center, in association with Downtown Community Television Center in New York, as part of its PALEYDOCFEST in October 2010.

We seek outstanding documentaries produced by young people across the country. Selected documentaries will be screened at PALEYDOCFEST2010 and will become part of the Paley Center’s permanent collection.

Entries must meet the following criteria:

• filmmakers must be 21 years old or younger
• documentaries must be less than 20 minutes in length
• documentaries must have been completed after September 1, 2009
• entries are limited to three per organization/group/school

Entries must be in DVD format.
Early submission: $5 per entry postmarked by 8.27.2010
Late submission: $7 per late entry postmarked by 9.10.2010

HBO Paid Internship Opportunity - LA

HBO Films is currently looking for interns to assist in supporting the Story and Development Department. Pending school approval, the internship is for the fall semester 2010, with an hourly stipend paid on a weekly basis.

HBO Films operates as a cutting edge mini-major studio.

Intern opportunities would include providing clerical support for development executives, learning many aspects of the development process, archiving past & present projects, etc.

Requirements are: film experience or a major in film is preferred but not necessary. Proofof internship eligibility and a signed internship contract between the intern and HBO must be completed before the student can start the internship. Please check with your school as to your eligibility to receive academic credit.

Internships are not available unless your school gives academic credit.
