Thanks to a special partnership with the Loreen Arbus Foundation, the Loreen Arbus Focus on Disability Scholarship - a $10,000 award - was created to recognize student filmmakers who:

  *  shed light on people with disabilities
  * help emerging artists within this community gain recognition
  * increase visibility for artists with disabilities

This award will be given to a STUDENT writer, producer or director who is disabled,
to a STUDENT producer whose piece focuses on people with disabilities,
or to a piece that features a person with a disability as one of the main characters.

Young Directors Night at LACMA

YOUNG DIRECTORS NIGHT at LACMA ---- Young Directors Night is an event to highlight the emerging talent of Los Angeles’ film community. A celebration of film and the art of cinema, the showcase features 8 to 10 short films screened in the unique setting of an art museum. The event is not only designed for film exhibition, but also is meant to create an educational experience highlighting the intricacies and complexities of the film-making process. A host panel of industry luminaries is assembled to engage the directors after the screenings in a discussion on what goes into making the films. The exhibition doubles as a competition with the host panel along with the audience voting on best in show. The winner, announced at a reception following the screening, takes home the Art of Film Award and is sent to a prominent film festival to gain further knowledge about their medium. Submitting to Young Directors Night is absolutely free. The mission of the Directors Guild-Producer Training Plan is to provide motion picture and television industry training as directed by the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers and the Directors Guild of America. The Assistant Directors Training Program recruits a diverse group of applicants from across the United States and provides selected candidates with education, training and paid experience in professional settings, facilitating their development into successful Assistant Directors. The Training Program's ultimate goal is to provide the Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers with Assistant Directors of the highest quality and professionalism.
