Legacy Project Screening Series at UCLA

Dear Friends!

I write to draw your attention to the Legacy Project Screening Series at UCLA. On a bimonthly basis, we select inspiring films from the Legacy Collection to screen at UCLA’s Billy Wilder Theater. On December 7th, we are thrilled to present an evening of films by award-winning filmmakers Greta Schiller and Andrea Weiss, of Jezebel Productions (BEFORE STONEWALL, PARIS WAS A WOMAN), who recently deposited several of their highly-acclaimed documentaries with the Legacy Project.

This trio of films depict some of the most talented and rousing lesbian artists of the past hundred years in literature, art and music. See what it was really like in Paris at the turn of the century when Gertrude Stein, Djuna Barnes and Colette among others were having all-female parties, inspiring each other and writing seminal works as they considered their sexuality and the world around them. Listen to some of the music made by the multi-racial all-women 16-piece jazz band of the 1940s – you will be smitten by African American couple, legendary jazz trumpeter Tiny Davis and her partner of over 40 years, drummer-pianist Ruby Lucas!

This literature and music has historically been crucial in helping people find the courage to accept themselves, love themselves and find the strength to be who they are. Join us on December 7th and see why! Please forward this to friends who are interested also!
